Allen-Bradley MPL-B420P-MK72AA Low-Inertia Servo Motor

The Allen-Bradley MPL-B420P-MK72AA is a servo motor with low inertia; this is MP-series device with special winding technology that enables this brushless type servo motor to provide higher torques in a compact housing. New technologies are implemented in an area of winding insulation materials, providing a better thermal managing and heat transfer. The MPL-B420P-MK72AA servo motor is typically used with the AB Kinetix 6000 / 6200 / 6500 servo drive series.

This is a servo motor with a 460 Volt AC armature voltage, with a 5000 rpm rated speed and a 1.9kW rated power. It has 115-millimeter frame size while its magnet stack length is two inches. This model has no break. Its feedback type is Absolute feedback over a multi-turn high-resolution encoder which provides an absolute position within 4096 turns; the encoder returns position value which increases with shaft rotation in a clockwise direction (mounted motor face view).  A battery is not required based on its electromechanical design. This module’s integral memory retains motor identity (for automatic identity reporting during commissioning). The enclosure is a keyless shaft extension type, its mounting flange is IEC metric. Safe and reliable motor connection is done through a SpeedTEC DIN, right-angled, 180-degree rotatable connector.

The MPL-B420P-MK72AA weights approximately 5.5 kilograms (12.13 pounds). Its total dimensions measure around 132.8 x 186.5 x 98.3 millimeters (5.23 x 7.35 x 3.87 inches). It has an operating temperature between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius with an IP50 enclosure rating that can be upgraded to IP66 with an optional shaft seal kit (Shaft seals are subject to wear and call for a periodic checkup and replacement). Terminal connector kits can be ordered separately. Installation note: Route encoder cable, serial data transfer cables, I/O signals and other noise-sensitive wiring away from input power and motor power cables.
