The PWT 101 test unit performs functional testing and commissioning of Heidenhain incremental and absolute encoders. The PWT 101 is compact, rugged, and ideal for portable applications. Its 4.3-inch touchscreen serves as both a display and an operation panel.

The PWT 101 is feature-rich, with its functionality depending on the encoder and interface. For example, for EnDat interface encoders, it can display position values, export online diagnostic data, translate the origin, and perform other testing functions.

Heidenhain Testing and Inspection Equipment

Heidenhain encoders provide all the information needed for initial encoder setup, monitoring, and diagnostics. For analyzing these encoders, Heidenhain offers corresponding PWT test units and PWM detection units. PWM detection units offer flexible deployment, low measurement error, and are calibrable. Test units, such as the PWT 101, have fewer functions, relatively larger errors, and are not calibrable.

Functions

The PWT 101 can be updated with firmware to expand its functionality. Firmware files can be downloaded from the Heidenhain website www.heidenhain.com. Use a memory card (not included) to upload the firmware file.

Successor to PWT 100

The successor to PWT 100 is PWT 101, which provides all the functionality of PWT 100 and supports special firmware modules. Future firmware versions will support PWT 100, but PWT 100 cannot use firmware modules. Firmware version V2.2.1 or later supports PWT 101.

Firmware Modules

PWT 101's module management functions are divided into two types: firmware (basic functions) and firmware modules. Firmware modules can provide special functions and support products from other encoder manufacturers. PWT 101 allows for quick switching between modules, thus, users can flexibly meet different types of needs. The following firmware modules are now available to help users check and debug encoder functions:

• RENCO rotary encoders with and without bar commutation (For more information, please visit www.renco.com)

Installation Wizard: When installing open or multi-segment linear scales and modular angle encoders, it is recommended to use PWM 21 and the debugging and testing software (ATS). If the encoder interface supports PWT 101, it can also be used, but note its limitations.
