SITOP selectivity modules serve as the optimal enhancement for any power supply system designed to distribute load current across multiple feeders and monitor them. They reliably detect and signal overloads and short circuits on one or more of these feeders.

These electronic components allow brief current spikes—such as those caused by high inrush currents—to pass through, yet they disconnect a feeder in the event of a sustained overload. This functionality is ensured even in scenarios involving high-impedance lines or "slow-rising" short circuits. In such instances—even if the power supply unit is capable of delivering the necessary tripping current—conventional miniature circuit breakers might fail to trip, or trip only after a significant delay. The SITOP add-on modules, conversely, continue to supply 24V or 48V power to the healthy feeders without interruption or adverse reaction—a critical feature that prevents potential system-wide failures.

All selectivity modules are capable of communicating via a collective signal. The SITOP PSE200U is available in two versions: one utilizing a collective signal and another providing individual-channel signaling. With the SITOP SEL1200/1400, signal transmission can be toggled between a collective signal and channel-specific diagnostic signals. The SITOP SEL1600 selectivity system further supports bidirectional communication via IO-Link, allowing for parameterization directly through this point-to-point interface.
