The 1783-US5TG is an Allen-Bradley industrial Ethernet switch that belongs to the Stratix 2000 Unmanaged Ethernet switch product family. This Ethernet switch is a DIN rail mounted device, primarily used for industrial Ethernet network connectivity, allowing automation devices such as Programmable Logic / Automation Controllers (PLC / PAC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and field devices some of which includes Adjustable Frequency AC drives, Soft starters, gateways, and other devices. This ethernet switch is compatible for use with Allen-Bradley and 3rd party products that are Ethernet enabled. The 1783-US5TG is provided with Five (5) Ethernet copper ports. These ports are designed for the insertion of RJ45 connectors and support 10/100/1000 Mbps transmission speed. It has an inrush current rating of 0.33 Ampere, power consumption of 4.5 Watts nominal input current of 250 mA at DC input and 500 mA at AC input while the maximum input current is 510 mA at DC input and 750 mA at AC input. This ethernet switch operates at an input supply voltage of 24 VDC / 24 VAC nominal with voltage ranges of 12 - 48 VDC and 18-30 VAC along with an input frequency of 50-60 Hz at AC input. The 1783-US5TG comes with an open type enclosure and requires 2.5 mm2 (14 AWG) copper wire for ground connection and 4…0.25 mm2 (12…24 AWG) twisted-pair copper wire for DC power connection. Recommended tightening Torque are 0.91 N-m (8.05 in-lb) for ground terminal and 0.50…0.56 N-m (4.5…5.0 in-lb) for power terminals.

It has a maximum inrush current of 0.33 A, the input power is 24 Volts nominal (12 to 48 Volts DC, 18 to 30 Volts AC, 50 to 60 Hertz) with SELV safe value, and it consumes 4.5 Watts of power at maximum. For ground connection, 2.5 (14 AWG) copper wire is suitable and for DC power connection, 4 to 0.25 (12 to 24 AWG) twisted-pair copper wire is suitable. The 1783-US5TG new series B switch offers additional features to provide reliable network connectivity. Its design is further decreased in size to maximize cabinet space, and its environmental ratings are enhanced for industrial applications from IP20 to IP30 (Ingress Protection) with a rugged metal enclosure. Its operational temperature range is extended drop as low as -40 degrees Celsius and peak at 75 to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications. It also features broadcast storm protection against unwanted network traffic.
